On March 3, 2026, Shenzhen University (SZU) hosted its Lantern Festival Bazaar, marking the university’s first major cultural event of the Lunar New Year. Embracing the tradition of bringing together students, faculty, alumni, and the public, the bazaar seamlessly blended traditional heritage, modern technology, and disciplinary achievements, attracting tens of thousands of participants to celebrate on campus.
With the theme “Great Lychee, Gallant Steed” — “Great Lychee” symbolizing the university’s lychee culture and vibrant campus life, and “Gallant Steed” expressing the aspiration for a leap forward in talent cultivation, scientific research, and social services in the Year of the Horse — the event highlighted campus-community integration. It was co-organized by multiple university departments with strong support from Nanshan District authorities. The bazaar featured four themed zones with 70 booths, offering experiences from intangible cultural heritage and poetry games to tech innovations, disciplinary exhibits, ethnic culture displays, and campus delicacies.
The School of Humanities presented a popular cultural experience booth titled “Ink Blessings, Humanities Legacy,” which elegantly combined classical poetry, calligraphy, and New Year customs. Faculty and students guided participants in writing the character “Fu” (blessing) in varied calligraphic styles, conveying sincere wishes for the Year of the Horse while offering an immersive appreciation of traditional culture. The booth vividly demonstrated the School’s commitment to cultural heritage and innovation, enriching the campus-community celebration with a distinct humanistic atmosphere.
