On July 4–5, the Fourth Annual Symposium on “Borders and Border Administration in Chinese History: The History of Mountains and Waters” was held at Shenzhen University (SZU). Hosted by the Department of History at the SZU School of Humanities, the event gathered over 40 distinguished scholars from nearly 20 leading universities and research institutions.

Attendees included Prof. Xu Bo, Secretary of the CPC Shenzhen University Committee, and representatives from Peking University, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Renmin University of China, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Nanjing University, Sun Yat-sen University, Xiamen University, Chung Cheng University, and Yang Ming Chiao Tung University.

The symposium facilitated high-level dialogue on the history of borderland administration and regional social dynamics. By bringing together top-tier national scholars in Shenzhen, the conference not only established a vital bridge for academic exchange for the SZU History Department but also significantly advanced disciplinary development and the cultivation of young talent in the fields of borderland studies and regional social history, offering valuable insights for constructing an independent Chinese historiography knowledge system.
