The School of Humanities Holds Opening Ceremony for Class of 2025

On September 2,2025, the opening ceremony for the Class of 2025 at Shenzhen University's School of Humanities was held in the university's International Conference Hall. The faculty members and all 480 new students attended the event.

In a speech titled Look Up at the Stars in the Maze, Dean Ma Zili elaborated on the value of university education in finding one's purpose, building mentor and peer relationships, and developing interdisciplinary qualities. He encouraged students to aim high, make good use of university resources, and cultivate a spirit of proactive inquiry and critical thinking.

Party Secretary Yi Ling, who presided over the ceremony, announced that this year’s incoming class consists of 383 undergraduates, 87 master's students, and 10 doctoral students. She urged students to treasure their time at university, strengthen their learning and practice, and prepare to contribute to society in the future.

Faculty representative Jiang Yuqin emphasized that in the age of AI, humanities education should remain committed to the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty. She also encouraged students to leverage Shenzhen’s strength in combining humanities and technology to pursue cross-disciplinary innovation.

Graduate student representative Yan Bingzi and undergraduate representative Cai Sitong expressed their commitment to upholding humanistic spirit, utilizing university resources, and aligning personal growth with social needs.

During the ceremony, Dean Ma also presented letters of appointment to faculty representatives serving as class advisors and mentors for the new undergraduate students.
